1.
Members are to make maximum use of training time; this by
concentrated attention to the instructors and the drills and
training exercises given by the instructor (s).
2.
The senior ranking instructor will dictate the events of the
day; no alternative practice or activities may be engaged in
without his permission.
3.
Common courtesy will be expected and extended to every member,
visitors, or anyone else in the class session. Talking during
instruction, profanity, arguing, boasting, or littering will not
be tolerated.
4. No free
sparring, boxing, wrestling, horseplay, or similar activity will
be allowed during class except under supervision of one of the
instructors.
5.
Attendance is required. Members with attendance issues must them
report to the director. Members are allowed a total of four
absences per month. Members who have poor attendance will be
given a warning. If the poor attendance continues into the next
month, the member will be suspended from the club for one month.
A second suspension will result in expulsion. Members who must
miss class for an extended period may request a leave of
absence.
6. Every
member must carry some form of accident/medical insurance, and
must sign a waiver sheet absolving instructors, members, and
involved parties from responsibilities for any injuries incurred
during training.
7.
Members must pay dues on the first workout of each month.
Members should contact the director for current dues rates. If a
member trains hard and is in good standing but can’t pay dues
for any given month, he or she should see the Director for a
reduction or a waiver. We are not about money at the Cave. It is
more important that the student maintain his/her training.
8.
Members should not practice techniques outside of class with
non-members without permission of the chief instructor or one of
the senior instructors. Members should never practice in a
careless or dangerous manner. Members must obtain permission to
use Plato’s Cave logo, image, or name without the express
permission of the chief instructor.
10. Members
wishing to bring a guest to class must clear it with the
Director and Senior Instructors first. The member will be the
responsible for the actions of that guest. Guests may attend the
HCC training session held on Tuesday evenings during the college
academic year. At no time is a member to bring a guest to
Plato’s Cave. Training at Plato’s Cave is by invitation only.
11. Members
are required to have the following personal training equipment:
mouthpiece, groin protector (males).
Students will have one month to acquire the required training
equipment and will not be allowed to participate in training
activities that require any of the previously listed equipment. After sixth months, members are required to also
obtain the following additional equipment: training gloves (16
oz), shin guards, and
chest protector (female)
12. Members
will be expected to keep a training notebook. The notebook
should contain the students interpretations/explanations of
material presented in class. Students should bring their
training notebooks to class.
Student
Requirements
1. Students must talk to our Director, Joe
Singleton for an overview of classes, equipment dues,
and student rules and requirements.
2. Students must download, print out, read
carefully, and sign the Plato's Cave Waiver. You will
not be allowed to train with us until you have handed in
a signed waiver.
3. Students must have a mouthpiece
and groin protector (males) before being allowed to
participate.
4. Students must attend whatever class (es) they have
committed to training in. Failure to regularly attend
will result in expulsion. Space in the Cave is extremely
limited, and if you are not serious about training,
there are others on the waiting list.
5. Students must maintain a training notebook. The
notebook should include class notes, your thoughts and
ideas that pop up concerning training, as well as notes
on your supplemental training program.
Dues
As a student at the Cave, you
will be expected to contribute to the cost of replacing worn out
equipment by paying your monthly club dues. Beginning dues rates
range from $20 for one session a week to $50 for all sessions.
On Tuesdays during the academic year (when we are training at
the College), students, veterans, law enforcement officer, and
fire fighters train for free.
Joe can explain the dues scale for the other times. Dues are on a sliding scale, so
that the the longer you train at the Cave, the lower your dues
will be. Since we at the Cave are not worried about making money,
we can focus more on what is truly important. Rather than money
and profit, we
are more concerned with helping each other achieve our martial arts
goals. If you cannot pay dues for a given month or for a more
extended period of time, just talk to Joe, and he will work
something out for you. Again, if you train hard with us, we want
you around, and money should not be an obstacle.
